Building Apologizing and Forgiveness Skills at Little Scholars Downtown Brooklyn
This March, our classrooms at Little Scholars Downtown Brooklyn are focusing on an important etiquette theme: apologizing and forgiveness.
Throughout the month, children will take part in guided roleplay sessions that help them practice how to apologize, how to forgive, and how to express their emotions in healthy and respectful ways. These activities are designed to support children as they learn that mistakes happen and that relationships can be repaired through understanding and communication.
Teachers will model simple language and actions children can use when they hurt a friend’s feelings or when they need space to forgive. Through roleplay, children gain the opportunity to practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment before using them during everyday classroom interactions.
Learning how to apologize and forgive helps children build empathy, self awareness, and emotional regulation. These skills support stronger friendships and help children feel more confident navigating social situations.
By revisiting this theme throughout March, children will continue to see how respectful communication and emotional understanding play a role in positive relationships, both in the classroom and beyond.
