Little Scholars Ditmas Park

Yes! Little Scholars at 631 East 18th Street in Ditmas Park is a fully licensed early childhood education center regulated by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Our license covers programs for children from age 2 through age 6, including Preschool, 3K, UPK, Extended Care, and Summer Camp. Every teacher holds a degree or certification in early childhood education, and all staff members complete background checks before joining our team.

We undergo routine DOHMH inspections covering health and hygiene practices, safe pick-up authorization, facility access controls, emergency response readiness, and appropriate staff-to-child ratios. We’re also an approved provider for the NYC Department of Education’s 3K and Pre-K for All programs, which adds an additional layer of DOE accreditation on top of our DOHMH license.

Yes, part-time is available for our Preschool Program (ages 2–3). Families can choose 3 days a week or half-days, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. 3K and UPK follow the NYC DOE schedule, 8:30 AM – 2:50 PM, with Extended Care available until 6:00 PM.

Our preschool program at Little Scholars at East 18th Street in Ditmas Park is intended for kids ages two to three. This program focuses on fostering early development through age-appropriate instruction, sensory exploration, and emotional support.

We provide extra programs for older kids:

• Through supervised play and exploration, the 3K Program (3–4 years old) fosters curiosity, independence, and social skills.
• Building on 3K foundations, the UPK Program (4–5 years old) emphasizes critical thinking, early math, literacy, and creativity.

Enrolling in the free 3K or UPK program at Little Scholars Ditmas Park is easier than you might expect! Families apply through the NYC MySchools portal at myschools.nyc. Applications typically open each January, and placement offers are sent out in the spring. When filling out your application, make sure to list Little Scholars at 631 East 18th Street, Ditmas Park as one of your program choices — our DOE location code is 22KDSY.

For 3K, your child must turn 3 years old during the calendar year of enrollment. For UPK, your child must turn 4 during the enrollment year. Documents you’ll need include your child’s birth certificate, proof of NYC residency such as a utility bill or lease, current immunization records, and any IEP documentation if applicable.

For kids ages three to five, extended care offers a safe, stimulating after-school program filled with activities that foster social and emotional development. The goal of the full-day summer camp program is to keep kids interested and learning all summer long through field trips, themed activities, and outdoor play.
