Sharing Stories and Building Connection on Mystery Reader Day

Mystery Reader Day is one of the ways Little Scholars Downtown Brooklyn brings learning to life through family involvement.

Each month, one family member from each classroom is invited to join circle time to read a story and take part in a group activity with the children. These visits help children connect books with real experiences and see reading as something shared and meaningful.

Listening to familiar voices read aloud supports language development, attention, and comprehension. It also helps children feel proud and confident when they see families participating in classroom learning.

Because Mystery Reader Day happens monthly, families have ongoing opportunities to take part throughout the year. This keeps the experience special while allowing many families to be involved over time.

Through shared stories and simple moments of connection, Mystery Reader Day strengthens the partnership between home and school.
