Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher (Ditmas Park)

Little Scholars Learning Center is looking for an experienced and passionate 3K / Pre-K Lead Teacher to join our team in Brooklyn.

As a Lead Teacher, you will create a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom where children can develop academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and linguistically through purposeful play, exploration, and structured learning experiences.

Our approach combines strong early childhood education practices with individualized support for each child. We are looking for an educator who can confidently lead a classroom, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and bring energy, creativity, and care to the learning environment.

Position Details

Location: 631 E 18th St, Brooklyn, NY 11226
Salary: $56,000–$68,652 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Job Type: Full-time, in person

What You’ll Do

• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate lessons and learning activities for 3K / Pre-K students
• Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment
• Implement curriculum while adapting activities to children’s individual needs, abilities, and interests
• Prepare lesson plans, classroom materials, schedules, and instructional activities
• Support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, adaptive, and language development
• Observe and document children’s progress, learning, and developmental milestones
• Identify children who may need additional academic, social, or developmental support and provide appropriate assistance
• Maintain required classroom records and documentation
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and families
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide updates regarding children’s progress and development
• Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, meals, playtime, and daily routines
• Maintain active supervision and follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements
• Collaborate with assistant teachers, administrators, and other members of the educational team

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education CORE credits
• At least 1 year of teaching experience in a licensed daycare, preschool, early childhood program, or public school
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices
• Ability to create engaging, educational, and age-appropriate activities for young children
• Strong classroom-management and organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues
• Patience, empathy, reliability, and a nurturing approach to working with young children
• Ability to meet applicable New York State and licensing requirements for the position

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Exploration Curriculum and/or Units of Study
• Valid NYS Birth–Grade 2 Teaching Certificate
• Knowledge of additional languages
