Why Downtown Brooklyn Families Choose Little Scholars for Preschool

The preschool years are the most important academic window in early childhood. What happens between ages 2 and 5 shapes how a child reads, thinks, relates to others, and approaches challenges for years to come.

Here is what Downtown Brooklyn families consistently tell us matters most:

  • A curriculum that delivers results. We use the Frog Street Preschool Curriculum, a research-backed program that builds literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social-emotional skills through purposeful, hands-on learning.
  • Small class sizes with focused attention. 10 to 12 children per class with 2 teachers. Every child is seen, known, and guided with care.
  • A clear path to kindergarten and 3K. Children who turn 3 by December 31st transition directly into our DOE-connected 3K program. The progression is intentional and smooth.
  • Three hot meals and two snacks daily. Breakfast, lunch, supper, and two snacks, freshly prepared and nutritionally balanced. No packed lunches needed.
  • Daily connection through Brightwheel. Real-time photos, learning updates, and notes from teachers sent directly to your phone every day.
  • Vouchers accepted. ACS and HRA vouchers welcome. Tuition assistance available for qualifying families.

At Little Scholars Adams Street, we build that foundation with intention. Our preschool program combines a proven research-based curriculum, small class sizes, and a team of dedicated educators to give your child the strongest possible start.

What Your Child Builds Every Day at Little Scholars Adams Street

Strong Literacy Foundations

Reading readiness starts long before a child opens their first book. At Adams Street, teachers use vocabulary-rich conversations, daily read-alouds, phonics games, and writing activities to build the language skills children need for kindergarten. By the end of the program, your child will be engaging with text with confidence.

Early Math and Scientific Thinking

Counting, patterns, measurement, and simple experiments are woven into the daily routine. These are not isolated lessons. They are part of how we build logical thinking and natural curiosity. Children who engage with early math and science concepts here arrive at kindergarten genuinely ahead of their peers.

Creative Expression in Every Form

Art, music, storytelling, and dramatic play are core parts of our preschool program, not add-ons. Creative activities develop imagination, fine motor skills, and self-expression. Every child at Adams Street gets to create, perform, and take pride in what they make.

Social-Emotional Intelligence

Empathy, self-regulation, conflict resolution, and teamwork. These are the skills that determine how children succeed in school and in relationships for the rest of their lives. Our teachers build them every day through modeling, coaching, and a classroom culture that values how we treat each other.

Classroom Readiness and Independence

Sitting in a group, following directions, asking questions, and managing transitions. These habits of learning matter as much as academic content. Our program builds them through consistent routines, purposeful tasks, and a strong belief that every child is capable of more than they think.

The Principles Behind Our Downtown Brooklyn Preschool

Our Adams Street preschool program is guided by beliefs that show up in everything we do.

Kindergarten readiness is built here, not hoped for.
We do not leave school readiness to chance. Every activity, routine, and interaction in our preschool program is designed with your child's next step in mind.

Confidence matters as much as content.
A child who believes in their own ability learns faster, tries harder, and recovers better from setbacks. We build that belief deliberately, through encouragement, challenge, and celebration of effort.

Hands-on learning is the most effective learning.
Children at this age do not learn by sitting still and listening. They learn by doing. Our program is built around exploration, creation, and active engagement with ideas.

Every family at Adams Street is a partner.
Polina, Yulia, and the entire teaching team communicate openly with parents. Through Brightwheel and direct access to your child's teachers, you are always part of the picture.
